Sandringham & Balmoral
Flood Recovery Planning Project
Together to Thrive!
Nāku te rourou, nāu te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi
Since March 2025, SPiCE has been working with the Tāmaki Makaurau Recovery Office to facilitate community-led recovery planning across Sandringham and Balmoral. Alongside other local groups, we’ve been supporting our communities to connect and consider how we can all work together to recover and thrive after local flooding. This has included working alongside flood affected residents and the broader community to identify community priorities and take practical steps to improve connectedness, wellbeing and resilience.
A genuine community-led approach has been integral to this project. We gathered over 100 responses through our Kōrero Mai posters and had contact with over 500 people to find out how our communities are tracking after the floods and what the priorities are for our community going forward. Then we worked alongside local resident groups to shape those conversations and consultation responses into six Community Priorities that can guide our recovery mahi going forward.
