Inspired by our 'Welcome to Ngā Ana Wai' poster competition, SPiCE supported a wonderful hīkoi around Gribblehirst Lava Rock Forest guided by Lisa from Nature's Fold. Lisa showed us how to identify native trees and plants and explained how they were used in Rongoā (traditional Māori medicine.) We observed the making of probiotic tea following tikanga and shared kai and kōrero afterwards in Gribblehirst Hub.
We then took part in a Rākau (plant) print making workshop using natural pigments, led by mixed media artist Cathy King.
The event was well attended and we received fantastic feedback so look out for more events like this in the future.
