Welcome to Ngā Ana Wai Poster Competition – Terms and Conditions of Entry.
Please read carefully: We may revise these terms and conditions from time to time by updating this page. The revised ‘Terms and Conditions of Entry’ will take effect once they are published here.
- The promoter is SPiCE – the Sandringham Project in Community Empowerment with funding from Albert Eden Arts.
- The competition will be known as the “Welcome to Ngā Ana Wai Poster Competition”.
- There are three entry categories i) Primary and Intermediate students (ii) High School Students (iii) Open Competition.
- One major prize winner (first prize) will be selected from each category along with one runner up (second prize) and one notable mention (third prize) from each category.
- The major winner of each category will receive a $500 art voucher each and their entries will be displayed on our social media channels and printed and displayed on four billboards around Auckland for two weeks in June.
- Second prize winners from each category will receive a $100 art voucher and their entries will be displayed on our social media channels.
- Third prize winners from each category will receive a $50 art voucher and their entries will be displayed on our social media channels.
- The competition is open to all residents of Auckland, New Zealand.
- Entries open at 9am 21 January 2024 and close at 9pm 17 March 2024.
- Your entry cannot be changed or added to once submitted, however there is no cap on the number of entries which can be submitted.
- Entries must be individual entries and created for this competition; team entries will not be accepted.
- Posters submitted must be the original work of the individual submitting them and must not have been published elsewhere or have won a prize in any other competition. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any artwork does not infringe the copyright of any third party or any laws. Entrants must warrant that the poster they are submitting has in no part been generated using AI (artificial intelligence) software.
- The poster design must incorporate artwork inspired by the natural or cultural heritage of Sandringham, New Zealand, and the surrounding area.
- The poster must incorporate the words Welcome to Ngā Ana Wai.
- The artwork can be completed using the following mediums - paint, pens, pencils, collage or digitally.
- Artwork must be portrait orientation.
- Digital artwork must be at least 300 dpi.
- Original posters must be at least A3 in size.
- Entries must include a statement from the artist (150-word limit) and describes the intention, or inspiration or ideas that inform your artwork. Spice will reserve the right to edit the text for grammatical errors, reject, or ask the artist to make a change if required. Statements will be displayed with the artwork.
- Entries can be submitted using one of the following methods. (i). Using the submission form available on the SPiCE website – a jpg, either a scan or photograph of the poster. The original poster will be required for printing purposes and must be retained by the entrant and given to SPiCE if it is judged to be a winning entry. (ii). Handed in to a representative from SPiCE on a designated collection day at Mt. Albert Library – original poster.
- Original posters cannot be returned.
- Entrants under the age of 16 must have a parent/guardian agree to the terms and conditions of the competition before submitting an entry.
- By entering the competition, the entrant acknowledges that they give SPiCE permission to reproduce all or part of the entry in the following ways – sharing on SPiCE Social Media pages, SPiCE marketing and promotion purposes, website and printing, and display on billboards around Auckland.
- One major prize winner and two runners up in each of the three categories will be judged using a selection process by an independent panel of judges.
- Employees and current contractors of SPiCE and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter.
- Judges and the immediate family members and colleagues of the judge are not eligible to enter.
- Judging will take place between 18th March 2024 and 10 April 2024. The judge’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The winners will be notified by email during the week beginning 15 April 2024.
- Winning posters will be displayed on billboards in and around Sandringham for two weeks during June 2024.
- The names of winners will be published on the SPiCE website.
