WATEA RESERVE
ADDRESS DETAILS:
30 Haverstock Road, Sandringham. |
ACCESS:
The park can be accessed by a flat path off Haverstock Road located between residential lots, or from a gravel path via Taumata Reserve. |
DESCRIPTION:
This quiet, surprisingly spacious reserve has much to offer, from large flat areas to kick a ball, picnic areas and seating to relax on, as well as board walks and paths to meander amongst the many and variously planted enclaves. It is a popular dog off-leash park for those with fur babies, and has well located refuse bins, a poop bag dispenser off path, as well as a cage type reusable bag dispenser at the Haverstock Road entrance. The park has a small wetland area at the base of the hill, some of which is planted (and some of which is just soggy grass in the winter months), so a towel for an off-leash dog or toddler is a good idea. Pukeko, rosella and tui provide delight for twitchers. |
